The question to examine is how many "Congratulations to our up-and-comers!" advertisements get sold after the announcements are made. The up-and-comers are probably more likely to purchase those glossy full color photo ads.

Said up-and-comers generally being a bit easier on the eyes than, say, Tim Thornton.

One hand washes the other in this business.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9203481901177661359.post-48649122938869499822008-05-09T11:11:00.000-05:002008-05-09T11:11:00.000-05:00Anonymous 1 is an idiot. I know at my firm these "lists" are not looked upon very favorably. And if those on them are not humble...watch out, they get shunned like a leper! That is not to say anyone on the list has leprosy, that would be defamation per se. http://www.pownetwork.org/phonies/phonies208.htmAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9203481901177661359.post-28368355508890168922008-05-09T09:57:00.000-05:002008-05-09T09:57:00.000-05:00yesyesAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9203481901177661359.post-44040349306828431152008-05-09T06:28:00.000-05:002008-05-09T06:28:00.000-05:00Do they get bonuses for being "yes" men?Do they get bonuses for being "yes" men?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9203481901177661359.post-8167408546018890192008-05-08T17:28:00.000-05:002008-05-08T17:28:00.000-05:00I nominate Dan Heilman and Mark Cohen for doing su...I nominate Dan Heilman and Mark Cohen for doing such a fine job of representing Minnesota Lawyer.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9203481901177661359.post-9059927610224310472008-05-08T15:06:00.000-05:002008-05-08T15:06:00.000-05:00I would add that if anonymous knows someone who wo...I would add that if anonymous knows someone who would be a good candidate who wasn't on this year's list, please let us know. There is always next year!

In any case, accompanying next week's edition of Minnesota Lawyer will be a special section explaining in detail the selection process and the accomplishments of the attorneys who made the list. Those are the folks who were deservedly honored this afternoon.

During the selection process, we aren't privy to -- nor are we interested in -- whether a firm or other entity subscribes to or has some other business relationship with Minnesota Lawyer.

We love a good conspiracy theory as much as anyone, but I'm afraid Up & Coming Attorneys is strictly a meritocracy.Dan Heilman, staff writerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03464719855775186110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9203481901177661359.post-2128113024698756502008-05-08T14:31:00.000-05:002008-05-08T14:31:00.000-05:00Can anyone shed light on this list? In other words, if a person worked at a firm that did not subscribe to Minnesota Lawyer, and did not contribute any money to Minnesota Lawyer, would they be allowed to participate in this list?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
